Several media operations of Silverbird Communication, owned and controlled by the family of Senator Ben Murray-Bruce representing Bayelsa east, have been shut-down by the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) over alleged unpaid loan. Silverbird Television and radio station Rhythm 93.7 FM were off-air on Thursday.
The management of Silverbird Communication issued an apology to viewers on Thursday, June 23rd during the shut-down:
“Silverbird Communications Ltd, owners of Rhythm Fm and Silverbird TV, sincerely apologise to its numerous viewers, Listeners and on line subscribers over the disruption of our operations across Television, Radio and online Media.
“This is due to a situation beyond our control, however, we are committed to finding a speedy resolution to the dilemma.
“We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
“We remain committed to the provision of quality infotainment and premium service across our platforms.”
Senator Ben Murray-Bruce also issued a statement on the shut-down:
“I have been on an international flight and have only just landed. The situation is being resolved and things will be back to normal. In 36 years, Silverbird has grown and as with any institution, it will face challenges. Tough times dont last. But we, as tough people, outlast them.”
