The media mogul and senator representing Bayelsa east, Ben Murray-Bruce took to social media to chastise those who celebrated his downfall during the short shut-down of its media operations, Silverbird Television and radio station Rhythm 93.7 FM by the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) over alleged unpaid loan. The Senator expressed this on his Facebook page:
“Those celebrating my downfall celebrated too soon! This is not so much a setback as it is a setfront. Don’t give up on Nigeria. Don’t give up on yourself. We, as Nigerians, are tougher than our challenges.”
The management of Silverbird Communications Ltd. also issued a statement:
“The Management of Silverbird Group is pleased to announce the commencement of full operations at Silverbird Cinemas (Victoria -Island) and Port-Harcourt.
“We apologize for the disruption caused and are assuring our patrons and clientele of our commitment to providing quality service.
“We are also pleased to announce that STV Lagos and Rhythm 93.7 are also operational at the Galleria.
“Management is working round the clock to ensure that other locations are operational as soon as possible.
“We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.”
