President Muhammadu Buhari is coming back to the country on Friday, after about 50 days of being away in the United Kingdom. Buhari travelled to the United Kingdom on January 19th for what was originally claimed to be a vacation, but later requested for extension of stay to seek treatment of an undisclosed illness.
Soon after the president’s departure, rumors started spreading that he was dead, while some suggested that the illness had rendered him incapacitated. Many Nigerians on social media requested that the president address the nation directly from London, UK, as a proof that he is alive, but that never happened. Rather, he only allowed a few people from his inner circle to have access to him. His most recent visit was from Archbishop of Canterbury, Reverend Justin Welby, who visited him today. President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to return to the country tomorrow, Friday March 10, 2017.
The President left the country on January 19, 2017 for a vacation, during which he had routine medical check-ups. The holiday was extended based on doctors’ recommendation for further tests and rest.
President Buhari expresses appreciation to teeming Nigerians from across the country, and beyond, who had prayed fervently for him, and also sent their good wishes.
