Federal Government Confirms No Public Holiday on June 12


With the declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day in honor of Chief MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the 1993 election which was annulled, many Nigerians thought they will get a holiday. However, the federal government says no holiday this year. This was announced through the federal government through their social media handle. eFederal government stated that the June 12th “in future years will replace May 29th as a National Public Holiday in celebration of Nigeria Democracy Day.”
