Abia State Election Crisis


The election turmoil continues in Abia State as the five-man panel Appeal court judgement presided by Justice OyebisiOmoleyein the State capital of Owerri sacks Governor OkezieIkpeazu as the governor of the state. The Appeal court judgment on December 31st nullified the election of Ikpeazu and declared his main campaign rival, the APGA governor, Dr. Otti as the winner of the Governorship election held on April 11, 2015. The court ordered the Independent National Election to put Dr. Otti as the governor of the State.

Protesters stormed the streets of the commercial city of Aba, with some political power players in Ukwa/Ngwa area such as the former Senate President, Chief Adolphus Wabara, former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Prince Christopher Enweremadu, and former member of House of Representatives, Hon EziucheUbani among the personalities throwing support.

Governor Ikpeazu has vowed to continue fighting to gain the seat back.
