Controversy Rocks PDP As Ali Modu Sheriff Emerges As The Party Chair

Ali-Modu-SheriffThe controversial appointment of Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has caused tension in the party as many prominent party members have called it a disappointment.  Some that vehemently criticize the appointment of the new party boss base their decision on his alleged involvement with Boko Haram. Fani Kayode, a formal spokesperson for the PDP is one of those party critics who believe the appointment is disgraceful as he believes the party has chosen to be represented by an “indisputable founder of Boko Haram.” Fani Kayode believes the party is headed in the wrong direction with the new appointment.
“Imposing Ali Modu-Sheriff is an insult to all those that have fought for, led, served, defended, supported and risked everything for the party, at every level, over the last 17 years. Only the deeply malevolent can be comfortable with such an arrangement, he said.”
In an exclusive interview with THISDAY, the former Governor of Borno state denied involvement with Boko Haram and said his critics are out to blackmail him. “I have nothing to do with Boko Haram in my entire life. Nobody in my family or relation is Boko Haram or close to any Boko Haram member. These people that wanted to kill me? Up till today, if they have the chance they will kill me” he said.
