Court Backs PDP National Convention Decisions, Disqualifies Sheriff

A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention in May is legal and upheld the decisions made by the party. Citing Article  31 (1) of the PDP  constitution, the presiding judge, Justice Abdullahi Liman ruled that  the dissolution of the National Working Committee and the National Executive Committee were legal, and the appointment of a Caretaker Committee for the party was not in violation of the PDP’s constitution.

The judge upheld the decision to disqualify former Acting National Chairman of the Party, Senator Ali Modu Sherriff.
